FIPS 140-2 Certified Encryption Modules

Posted on January 3, 2009 by Minder Singh  |  Comment (0)

Presenting the industry’s first digital KVM switch families with embedded FIPS 140-2–certified encryption modules.

For years, IT administrators in government and military installations relied on analog solutions to provide secure, BIOS-level access to their lab, computer room and data center devices.

The private sector, however, was not as constrained as the public sector regarding data security, and soon migrated to KVM-over-IP solutions. This offered administrators anytime/anywhere IP access, simplified cabling, higher productivity and lower costs.

But now, the gap has closed. Because now our government and military customers can enjoy all of the benefits of our KVM-over-IP solutions, with the bullet-proof security the government demands from their technology, with our Dominion® KX II KVM-over-IP and Dominion KSX II combination KVM and Serial-over-IP solutions.

We’ve embedded a FIPS 140-2-validated cryptographic module running on a Linux® platform per FIPS 140-2 implementation guidelines on all of our Dominion KX II and KSX II models (except Dominion KX II 101). Which means you have the ability to securely access and control any devices in your IT infrastructure, from anywhere at any time, day or night.

This cryptographic module has been validated by the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) for FIPS 140-2 Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules, and other FIPS cryptographic-based standards. They are the first digital KVM and combination KVM/Serial switches that meet the requirements for any U.S. and Canadian federal agency mandated to use FIPS 140-2 cryptography.

See more details by viewing this KVM-over-IP FIPS 140-2 Encryption Solution Brief.

What’s more, the Dominion KX II and KSX II support the Common Access Card (CAC) server authentication required by Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12).

So gain the flexibility and productivity of digital access, while meeting the mandates for FIPS 140-2 and CAC security.
