SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 11, 2012) — Today at Cisco Live, Cisco’s annual IT and communications conference, Raritan, an innovator of energy and IT infrastructure management solutions for data centers and engineering labs, announced that its PX intelligent power distribution units (iPDUs) are Cisco® EnergyWise™ certified.  A wide array of useful energy information is collected from servers and devices connected to Raritan’s networked iPDUs and shared with Cisco EnergyWise, so that organizations can gain a better understanding and control of their power footprint and energy costs.

One of the first PDUs to interoperate with Cisco EnergyWise, the PX intelligent PDU measures and shares detailed information on each server’s consumption of volts, watts, amps and kilowatt-hours (kWh) with +/-1% accuracy.  The PX iPDU solution can also provide detailed information on the environment in the server rack by measuring temperature, humidity, static pressure and airflow.

The PX iPDU works as an endpoint in the EnergyWise network, enabling users to monitor and manage their company’s energy consumption from anywhere.  In addition, the PX iPDU’s remote control capabilities enable the EnergyWise network to securely power on and off selected equipment outlets.  User-configurable critical power and environmental thresholds can be set in the iPDU for alert notifications.

Raritan’s PX iPDUs also work with Cisco Unified Computing System™ and Cisco Nexus® products.
