OVERVIEW

eRIC express requires no client software on the remote user side and supports standard browsers such as Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. Since it operates at the BIOS level, server access is available even if the server OS fails. An integrated modem allows emergency access when the network or internet is unavailable. Its combination of KVM encryption, 256-bit SSLv3/TLSv1 and certification protects servers from unauthorized access.

Automatic Detection of Mouse Motion, Acceleration	Most KVM switches require the customer to manually adjust the mouse motion and mouse acceleration settings for all connected target servers for each KVM user. eRIC express's automatic mouse detection automatically adjusts to the server's mouse settings, making manual configuration unnecessary.
Mouse Emulation for USB	eRIC express automatically emulates USB mice. An optional PS/2 cable for the emulation of PS/2 mice is available.
Client Application	For controlling the eRIC express the remote client only requires an OS with Java™ VM. Alternatively there is a native client for Windows® available.
Telnet Console	Through the eRIC express you can access a serial device via Telnet or SSH. You can additionally power on, power off and reset the host system.
Virtual Media	Dual-channel Virtual Media allows a remote user to transfer installation files and other media to and from a target machine over KVM ports. Virtual Media support, via USB mass storage, includes floppy, CD-ROM, DVD and hard drive redirection. This option is very useful for special applications like boot-up. One device can send or receive media via USB 1.1 standard.
Power Management
Reset/Power using ATX Control Signals	The remote server can be powered on, powered off or reset over IP. Please contact your sales representative to find out if you need additional adaptors for the Reset/Power solution.
Remote Reset/Power via IPMI	The host server can be powered on, powered off or reset over IPMB.
User Management
User Management	The eRIC express offers two predefined roles and access for up to 250 users. Several users are able to access the host system at the same time.

Configurable Bandwidth	Raritan's KVM-over-IP technology allows users to configure video performance to make the best use of available bandwidth.

What is the eRIC express?
eRIC express is a PCI card that enables IT administrators to remotely access and control a server over the IP network with BIOS level functionality. It is completely hardware and OS independent and allows users to troubleshoot and reconfigure servers even when servers are down.

How does eRIC express differ from remote control software?
because eRIC express is not a software but a hardware solution, it is much more powerful:

OS and hardware independent eRIC express can be used to manage any type of server running any OS, whether Intel, Sun, PowerPC running Windows, Linux, Solaris, Novell, etc.
State-independent / Agent-less eRIC express does not require the managed server OS to be up and running, nor does it require any special software to be installed on the managed server.
Out-of-Band Even if the managed servers own network connection is unavailable, it can still be managed through eRIC express.
BIOS-level access Even if the server is hung at boot up, requires booting to safe mode, or requires system BIOS parameters to be altered, eRIC express still works flawlessly to enable these configurations to be made.

NOTE: Remote management requires Java Runtime Environment v1.4.x or greater.
