    I recently attended the AFCOM® Data Center World (DCW) trade show, and given all the negative economic news, the turnout was impressive. Is the data center industry thriving despite the economy?  Maybe the need to learn about new technologies is recession-proof.

    For years, a QWERTY keyboard plus a mouse and a CRT monitor (or later LCD display) was the human and machine interface state of the art. Then, keyboards became bigger, mice were connected to serial; first, 1 button­ to two, then three and now 5.
