Specification Sales

The Specification Sales incumbent is responsible for selling to Mechanical and Electrical Consultants, IT Consultants and Main Contractors, fulfilling the opportunities via partners. The objective of this role is to promote Legrand’s Data Centre Solutions including Intelligent Cabinet Power Distribution units (IPDU’s), Cabinets & Containment. This quota carrying position allows you to leverage your influence within the consultants community to generate opportunities.


  • Identify business opportunities, with particular focus on gaining specification position for products, such as; Raritan Intelligent Cabinet PDU’s and Minkels Cabinets.
  • Form ‘relationships’ within IT, Electrical and Main Contractors to ensure Legrand are including in Tender Specifications.
  • React to sales leads and proactively leverage Legrand’s strong pipeline of projects from other business units.
  • Fully maintain all sales activity and opportunities are in the company’s Sales Force CRM system.
  • Be aware of market and competitor activity and keep relevant colleagues updated.
  • Maintains a regular schedule of contact via phone/on-site visits/Entertainment.
  • Creates and performs professional sales presentations (C level preferred)
  • Remains knowledgeable of company’s USP’s, products/services to facilitate sales efforts
  • Relays client feedback to product development staff
  • Maintains daily sales records and prepares sales reports as required
  • Work consistently to achieve targeted sales throughout the year.
  • Abide by the Legrand Core Values and Code of Ethics and strive to meet and exceed the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments


Job Competencies/Key Skills:

  • A working knowledge of the Electrical/Building/IT construction/Consultancy markets within the sales area
  • A strong and recent personal network within the Consultant Community
  • Comfortable calling on electrical designers, Consultants, Specifiers with a track record in specification sales.
  • Solid sales techniques & the ability to influence key decision makers.
  • Able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships at all levels.
  • An organised and structured working style.
  • A flexible attitude to work and working hours.
  • Able to recognise new business/sales opportunities, especially relating to specification sales
  • Ability to work closely with the Legrand team based in the London office, to collaborate in finding leads and sharing information;
  • Experience of Sales Force CRM system would be beneficial
