SOMERSET, N.J.  (April 26, 2016) — Raritan®, a leading provider of intelligent data center management and rack power distribution, is participating in two events that explore infrastructure challenges of data centers facing the growing needs of Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud, Mobility, and other industry trends propelling agile business operations.

“From interoperability to security, Enterprise IoT applications need to fit into current and future IT environments,” says the team developing the Demo Lab at Interop in Las Vegas.  The live demo will showcase IoT capabilities and innovative applications running on core infrastructure provided by several vendors, including Raritan.  According to the group, messaging middleware, interoperability and standardization are critical for growth.

Also next week, Raritan is hosting a webinar with DatacenterDynamics to address managing current and future power needs of data centers.

“Data centers are under pressure to support the technologies enabling digital disruptions in nearly every industry,” says David Wood, Director Power Solutions at Raritan.  “Data centers and other underlying infrastructures will be asked, for example, to support IoT – which by some estimates will grow to 21 billion installed IoT items by 2020.  These challenges will place added pressure on the data center power chain.  As one of the top intelligent infrastructure solution providers, we are pleased to be part of this year’s Interop demo to explore how infrastructures can best support IoT.  We are also hosting a webinar with DatacenterDynamics on creating a flexible power infrastructure that meets your demands now and in the future.”

Raritan at Interop
Interop’s Enterprise IoT demo will feature Raritan’s environmental sensors (T3H1 sensors), and an EMX smart rack controller that serves as a central connection point for sensors.  Information gathered from sensors is used to monitor data center racks for both hot spots and cold spots. The data helps data centers use cooling resources more efficiently, and improves uptime by sending alerts when thresholds are exceeded.

Each Raritan T3H1 sensor string has three temperature probes, with the middle sensor also containing a humidity probe. This sensor was designed to obtain readings at the bottom, middle, and top of a rack as recommended by ASHRAE.  Raritan’s KX3 KVM-over-IP switch will be used to manage the underlying demo equipment.
