-- Secure, BIOS-level Access and Control of up to 64 Servers --
SOMERSET, N.J. (May 30, 2006) - Raritan - a leading provider of solutions to simplify IT operations - today introduced MasterConsole™ Z, a switchless KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) solution designed to help small and mid-sized businesses simplify server maintenance.
MasterConsole Z enables one user to access and manage up to 64 servers, including multiple platforms, connected through a Cat5e daisy-chain configuration. Requiring only a small user station and a Computer Interface Module for each server, MasterConsole Z works without a traditional switch. The server-to-server, daisy-chain configuration simplifies installation by eliminating the need to run server-to-switch coax cables. Servers can be added anywhere in the chain, which can be up to 700 feet long.
Through a high-resolution on-screen user interface, an IT administrator can select servers to manage and troubleshoot by user-defined port names. MasterConsole Z delivers an "at- the-rack" experience with innovative features, such as Raritan's Automatic Video Tuning (AVT) -- which preserves high-resolution video quality over the Cat5 cable -- and "keep-alive" keyboard/mouse emulation to prevent annoying keyboard lock up.
MasterConsole Z is designed to meet the management needs and budgets of businesses with small to mid-sized server rooms and data centers, as well as businesses with servers distributed in several locations in a building.
"MasterConsole Z is equipped with the industry's best-performing BIOS-level KVM access-and-control technology," said Raritan Product Manager Scott McGlinchey. "For customers that need remote access and control to servers at longer distances, our MasterConsole family includes a KVM-over-IP solution. Our cost-effective solutions help businesses improve operations uptime and reduce maintenance costs."
MasterConsole Z starts at $575 (U.S. List Price) and is available worldwide through Raritan's extensive reseller channel and distributors.
