-- Peppercon's eRIC Express server management cards will be used to help manage Hosting Solutions' dedicated Total Control data center servers --
FLORENCE, ITALY, 22 June, 2005 - Hosting Solutions, a provider of reliable and secure Internet solutions and services and part of the Genesys Informatica group, and Peppercon, a developer of remote management solutions, today announced a joint agreement.
Under the agreement, Hosting Solutions will use Peppercon's eRIC® Express remote management cards to help manage its data center servers. In addition, the two companies will work together to help Peppercon strengthen its presence in the European Internet Service Provider (ISP) market.
The Peppercon solution will provide new management capabilities to support Hosting Solutions' high-availability, state-of-art hosting services. Installing eRIC cards into servers helps create a virtual presence in data centers, enabling IT specialists to access and maintain servers from anywhere using a Web browser.
"The remote management capabilities of Peppercon's eRIC Express cards will give us an advantage because our technical staff will be able to have almost instant and secure access to the servers in our data center that support our ISP services," says Luigi Corbacella, president of Hosting Solutions. "This will help improve service uptime and meet our clients' needs, as well as help in terms of management convenience, saving time and lowering maintenance costs."
Peppercon's eRIC card enables full remote management, independent of a system's status, including any BIOS state. In addition, the card makes it possible to switch systems on and off remotely and to perform cold resets. The card provides a virtual floppy drive for remote BIOS updates and for start-ups using an emergency disk, a USB mass storage device or CD/DVD drive. The card is optimized for use in 1U and 2U systems and is used by ISPs, in data centers and is often embedded inside industrial systems.
eRIC Express delivers optimal security, with all data sent between the card and the user encoded. For ease of installation, the remote host does not require the use of an extra driver, and the card is fully independent of hardware brand, platform, BIOS and operating system. In addition, no special client software is needed in order to use the management systems, and any browser can be used. The eRIC cards support the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) 2.0 standard.
"Hosting Solutions is a valuable partner for us, as it has a strong market presence and a talented and professional staff. We look forward to working with Hosting Solutions in delivering our high-quality products and technology to the Italian market," says Dr. Christian Patz, CEO at Peppercon.
