Two Raritan Products Named Product of the Year Finalists by Consulting-Specifying Engineer Magazine

Posted on April 19, 2016

SOMERSET, N.J. (April 19, 2016) — Two new products from Raritan®, a leading provider of intelligent data center management and rack power distribution, have been recognized as Product of the Year Award finalists by Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine in the Electrical Distribution category.

Raritan’s intelligent hybrid Rack Transfer Switch and Branch Circuit and Busway Monitoring System were selected best new product finalists by a panel of judges comprised of professional engineers.  Both products are used in data center applications to improve uptime and energy efficiency.

“We are honored to be Consulting-Specifying Engineer’s Product of the Year finalists,” said David Wood, Director of Power Solutions at Raritan.  “Our new Rack Transfer Switch and Branch Circuit Monitoring System improve capacity planning and increase the reliability of data center power chains.  Our focus remains on creating solutions that offer actionable insights that help data center managers make smart decisions about their power infrastructure.”

About Intelligent Rack Transfer Switch
Raritan’s newest intelligent Rack Transfer Switch uses a hybrid design for fast and reliable load transfers from one power source to another – and now offers outlet-level metering and power switching.  Outlet-level metering provides energy information about individual devices, which is useful for capacity planning and managing energy costs.  Remote power switching helps to prevent unauthorized device commissioning and allows IT departments to cycle power from afar.

About Intelligent Branch Circuit Monitoring
Raritan’s intelligent Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM) system provides data center and facilities managers with real-time and historical views of electrical capacity and power usage at panelboard, floor PDU, RPP, or overhead busway.  Most BCM systems are expensive and hard to install, configure and use.  But, Raritan’s new BCM makes it easy and affordable to monitor power upstream from IT equipment racks.  For colocation data centers, BCM offers visibility into how much power their customers’ equipment is using and helps enforce service level agreements.

Four other Legrand products are also award finalists, including Pass & Seymour Plug Load RF Receptacle, Evolution Series 10-in. poke-thru device, Wattstopper Wireless Receptacle Controls series, and Wattstopper FSP-201 low-voltage outdoor occupancy and daylight sensors.

Award finalists are listed on Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine’s site.  Readers who have the responsibility to buy and/or specify products are invited to vote for the 2016 Product of the Year winners.
