SOMERSET, NJ, (October 6, 2009) - Raritan Inc., a leader in data center infrastructure and power management solutions, today announced a strategic alliance in North America with Capgemini U.S. LLC, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services.  The alliance focuses on marketing and implementing solutions that help data center customers reduce total cost of ownership by optimizing existing IT infrastructure and reducing energy and other operating costs.

Raritan and Capgemini will collaborate to provide best-of-breed technology solutions from each company to support Capgemini’s Technology Services’ Network, Operations and Infrastructure Services evolution (NOISe) service offering, which provides a practical, self-funded approach to significant and sustainable cost reduction through optimization of clients’ current IT environments.

Capgemini’s NOISe team will leverage Raritan’s extensive enterprise management portfolio, which includes a suite of power management solutions—such as Raritan’s award-winning PowerIQ™ energy management software, intelligent power distribution units that uniquely measure power usage at the IT device level, environmental sensors, and the dcTrack™ IT asset and infrastructure management software—and remote access and control management offerings, such as CommandCenter® Secure Gateway. With these tools, Capgemini will be better positioned to analyze clients’ current data center environments and recommend a strategic roadmap that leads to an optimized and more energy efficient IT organization.

“With Raritan’s solutions, we’ll be able to provide our clients with visibility into their data center operations with detailed insight of IT assets and power consumption, as well as the capability to deliver secure control of IT assets from any location,” said Joseph Coyle, vice president, Capgemini North America Technology Services.  “Our alliance with Raritan is another example of how Capgemini provides innovative technologies which help clients improve the way they manage and grow their IT infrastructures and businesses.”

This new alliance will provide clients with a number of ways to optimize their data centers, including:

-Identifying underutilized and inefficient servers in order to reduce IT footprints and costs.
-Using real-time information on power-related issues—ranging from IT energy costs to carbon emissions generated by IT devices to rack capacity—to take corrective actions and track improvements.
-Saving energy by enabling customers to schedule servers to be “turned on” for additional processing power during peak work periods, then “turned off.”
-Tracking and collecting data center temperature and humidity information to eliminate hotspots, cool IT racks optimally, and obtain early warning signs of potential equipment problems.

“We are delighted to be a Capgemini alliance partner,” said Gary Marks, Raritan’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Americas. “Our alliance with Capgemini, which has broad technology implementation experience and deep knowledge of clients’ strategic challenges, is a significant validation of our strategy and our hardware and software offerings.  Our customers are being pressed to do more with less, while resolving issues created by datacenter sprawl.  Working together we can help solve many of the key issues facing data centers today.”
